The Timeless Journey of Reiki and Seichem Healing

Reiki, a profoundly ancient healing practice, was brought back to light at the dawn of the 20th century by Dr. Mikao Usui. After years of devoted searching, Dr. Usui uncovered its wisdom within ancient Sanskrit texts. While these texts provided the intellectual foundation, the true essence of Reiki required more—Dr. Usui embarked on a rigorous fasting meditation, through which he received the sacred healing empowerment that would define the system.

Inspired by this revelation, Dr. Usui established a Reiki clinic in Japan, sharing his newfound knowledge with a select group of spiritually advanced Japanese practitioners. In the 1930s, an American woman named Mrs. Hawayo Takata arrived at the clinic, seeking relief from a severe tumor. Miraculously healed, she felt a deep calling to devote her life to Reiki. Though the Japanese Masters initially hesitated to train her, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, moved by her sincerity, eventually agreed to mentor her.

On the eve of World War II, Dr. Hayashi completed Mrs. Takata’s training, entrusting her with a vital mission: to bring Reiki to the West and safeguard its traditions. Mrs. Takata fulfilled this calling with grace, training 22 Reiki Masters during her lifetime. Before her passing, she also passed the teachings to her granddaughter, Phyllis Lei Furumoto. Meanwhile, in Japan, a few Reiki Masters survived the war, preserving independent lineages separate from Mrs. Takata’s teachings.

The roots of Seichem, another powerful healing modality, are said to trace back to the same ancient Sanskrit texts that inspired Dr. Usui. Seichem enhances traditional Reiki with additional techniques, such as body scanning, the release of negative energy, and aura healing, creating a deeply transformative experience.
Kathleen Milner, originally trained in both traditional Reiki and Seichem, wove together the best of these practices. Her harmonious blend of methods and philosophies forms the foundation of what we share in our Reiki workshops—a nurturing, holistic approach to healing mind, body, and spirit.
